About Steve Maloney

Desert Jet | The Desert Jet Center FBO Artist Series Welcomes Its 4th Exhibition Featuring Art By Legendary Local Artist Steve Maloney

Steve Maloney lived in Palm Springs part-time his entire life until his death at the age of 78 in February 2021. He was a much-loved member of the Palm Springs community and a strong leader who made significant contributions to the City he loved. He was particularly generous with his time and financial support to both the Palm Springs Air Museum and the Palm Springs Art Museum.

For over six years, Maloney was an active member of the Palm Springs Art Museum Board. This culminated with him being Chair of the Board of Trustees for the last three years of his life. Malone was a very generous supporter of the Museum, making significant philanthropic gifts over the years. He also made substantial donations to the air museum and worked closely with them and a team of US veterans to create two works of art built upon the remains of helicopters used in the Viet Nam War.

Steve Maloney was a passionate artist and worked at his craft full-time for the past 25 years. Working in multiple disciplines and sometimes mixing them in conceptual projects, Maloney is particularly known for his reflections on pop culture. His abstract and pop art paintings are bold in color and injected with his sense of humor.

Maloney worked actively as a fine artist, creating an incredible number of pieces ranging from abstract paintings to sculptures and large-scale public art. Over 200 of his canvasses and over seventy sculptures are currently available and in storage.

All paintingsare available for sale and can be purchased as you do at any gallery. Contact Hugh Wakeham at hugh.wakeham@gmail.com or 760-992-4884 for information on any of Steve Maloney’s art.
