In the late 1960s already as a successful piston-engine aircraft manufacturer, Cessna saw a niche in the business jet market that was missing. With jet engine technology advancing at a rapid pace, Cessna designers saw an opportunity to introduce a light jet that could operate into short airstrips which were traditionally only delegated to turbo-prop aircraft. Essentially, it was the best of both worlds. The safety and comfort of a jet aircraft, but with the short field performance of a turbo-prop aircraft. This revolutionary concept still holds true today for the newer generation Citations.
Desert Jet operates the Cessna Citation Encore, which is the latest and greatest achievement of the original Citation family. Comfortably seating seven passengers in a center-club configuration with a belted lavatory for an eighth passenger, the aircraft can fly impressive distances of up to 1700 statute miles. For example, Palm Springs to Chicago can be accomplished with much ease. Not only will you be flying far, but you’ll be soaring with a maximum operating altitude of 45,000 feet. Additionally, while the Encore can fly high to take advantage of the prevailing winds and better range, it will fly safely over most of the weather down below.
Comfort is the Encore’s middle name. With a large aft baggage compartment equipped with a ski tube, the Encore can comfortably handle all of your luggage needs and more for that weekend trip to Aspen. In cabin amenities include XM satellite radio, Bose noise-cancelling headsets, a satellite phone, a refreshment center, and a fully-enclosed lavatory to name a few.
Up front, Citation Encore pilots have all the latest technology to get you to your destination safely. At their disposal is Honeywell’s Primus 1000 avionics suite which offers both the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) and the Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS II). These systems act as an added set of eyes in the sky to help pilots avoid rising terrain and other traffic flying nearby.
Ironically, not known for overall aircraft speed, the Citation name comes from a former Triple Crown winning thoroughbred stallion. What it lacks in speed, the Citation Encore champions in just about every other category including performance, safety, comfort, reliability, class and value. Since being first certified by the FAA in 1971 as the original Citation I, the Citation family has evolved over the years with much technological advancement. However, one thing has always remained constant. It has been tested, tried and affirmed as a true performer, proving the name still fits.
Had a great flight yesterday. The pilots were amazing. Got us thru a storm and wind with hardly a bump. Very impressive.
The trip was great. We were scheduled to depart at 9:00am. My parents arrived at the Bermuda Dunes Airport around 8:15. The pilots were ready a long time before that. They asked if we wanted to leave early and we got my father loaded up in the jet and left 8:30am. You couldn’t do that with a commercial flight. The pilots were very courteous and professional. They made us feel safe and comfortable before the flight and during the flight.
I used to charter from other companies, until I met the personnel from Desert Jet. I haven’t flown with anybody else in the last 10 years. Desert Jet is an organization that puts safety first, and I appreciate their professionalism.
They are professional; they care about what they do. It’s a top notch organization right here in our backyard.
Thanks for the super crisp, professional, and friendly service…will definitely use you guys again!
Thanks for taking care of (my associate), he was delighted.
I just wanted to send an email about our wonderful flying experience with the company. We booked a flight for four to San Francisco for April 15 – 18… What an absolutely great holiday getaway. Your staff are so wonderful, the pilot was great and the overall experience was above expectations. We are hoping to go again this fall and sure hope we can make our dates work to fly with you. Thanks for making our weekend such a memorable holiday for all us.
We had a great trip and hope to be able to do it again. Love the pilots!
Thank you all so much for a fabulous flight! What a first class operation! Archie panted the whole way but T-bone acted as though this was “normal” for him! We loved the two pilots….what great guys! I look forward to a long relationship! Thank you again for everything….especially the Bones and Scones cookies.
Thanks again for making the past year of charters truly a great experience. It’s enjoyable to business with such a well-organized and professional company. You and the team at Desert Jet make the following business statement a reality – “committed to excellence in customer service”.
